• LAN Infrastructure Upgrade

  The existing Cisco LAN infrastructure had been in place for a number of years and had proved to be very reliable. The original system had been designed to provide 10/100mb connectivity to the desktop and 100mb Fibre links to 4 remote cabinet locations. All stacks had a number of switches interconnected at 100Mb also. This was a flat layer 2 network and no facility to implement Virtual LAN’s for future applications such as VOICE, Video or segmentation for security for example.

• Major Fire: Disaster Recovery

  The equipment was examined and assessed by in house technicians but was found to be damaged beyond repair. However, Micro Plus technicians managed to recover all of the data from the hard drives on the server and each of the workstations. This was a huge relief to Gordon, who now had confidence that his business could be quickly rebuilt with up to date data. Due to the back up solution installed previously by Micro Plus, there was also an off site back of the data in place meaning that data recovery was always possible.

  Following huge investments in making Rowton Hall one of the most prestigious venues in the North West the owner required a state of the art, reliable IT infrastructure to manage bookings, guest requirement management, email, club memberships and their EPOS system. Micro Plus Computers successfully tendered for and won the contract to provide, install and maintain this infrastructure.

• SAN File Corruption Case Study

  A Storage Area Network (SAN) is a collection of shared storage devices which are networked together at very high speed. It typically connects all the storage resources together and makes them available to all servers on the network. SAN has many advantages over local data storage including scalability, reliability and improved performance mainly through the reduced chance of bottlenecks.
