Rowton Hall is a beautiful Country House retreat located in the heart of the Cheshire countryside, 3 miles from Chester. The estate includes a magnificent 38 bedroom hotel, an AA rosette awarded, oak panelled restaurant, private dining rooms, function/conference facilities and a Health Club which offers a 12 metre Indoor Swimming Pool, Whirlpool, Sauna, Steam Room, Solarium, Gym, Dance Studio, Health & Beauty Treatments, Croquet Lawn and 2 Floodlit Tennis Courts.
Requirement
Following huge investments in making Rowton Hall one of the most prestigious venues in the North West the owner required a state of the art, reliable IT infrastructure to manage bookings, guest requirement management, email, club memberships and their EPOS system. Micro Plus Computers successfully tendered for and won the contract to provide, install and maintain this infrastructure.
Solution
After liaising with the Hotel’s specialist software supplier in Canada, we supplied and installed a complete new back-office system comprising of two rack mount Hewlett Packard Proliant File Servers with independent tape backup systems and independent uninterruptible power supply and surge arrestors with a 3com SuperStack3 Gigabit Switch all neatly housed in a carbon black Hewlett Packard Proliant Server Cabinet. The software deployed on to these file servers was a combination of Microsoft Windows Server, Microsoft Exchange Server, Symantec Backup Exec plus specific agents and Symantec Antivirus Enterprise Edition. Other equipment which was supplied to further improve the performance and efficiency of the IT system included ELO TouchScreens, Hewlett Packard desktop PC systems, Epson Receipt Printers and Epson Kitchen Printers.
Result
The installation was completed on schedule over a two-week period by a two-man technical team. A large amount of the work was carried out in our technical workshops away from the Hotel in order to minimise any disruption to the running of the hotel.
Micro Plus Computers are now providing an on-going fixed-price monthly maintenance support package with guaranteed response times including telephone support, remote access support and on-site support.
