What is a Managed Print Service?

If you do not already have a managed print arrangement then you will be buying printers, buying toner when it runs out, paying for technical support and repairs when things go wrong – all ad hoc.

This means you don’t know from one month to the next what your printing costs are going to be or how long it’s going to take to get up and running again when something goes wrong.

The idea behind a managed print service is that you get all your printing costs covered (even paper if you want) for one fixed monthly price which is usually less than what you are paying at the moment just for toner.  You have one point of contact for all your printing issues, you don’t even need to worry about ordering toner – we do it all for you.

Process

1) We will take a look at your current printer use and printer requirements. We provide this service for anything between 1 and 100 printers.  Even if you only have 1 printer you can save money.

2) We will propose a solution that replaces your printer(s) with new, high quality, fast and efficient printer(s) and or copiers.

3) For a fixed monthly price, typically less than you are currently paying for toner alone, we can usually provide you with new equipment, all of your toner, on site warranty and help desk support, all spare parts and a single point of contact for all of your printing issues.

4) If you go over your predicted use, ie. start printing more than you are at the moment, then additional pages are charged at a greatly reduced rate and you still get the same warranty backup and help desk support.

In close partnership with Samsung we deliver cost optimization, printer management and enhanced productivity for our MPS customers, by applying our expertise to the heart of their customers' printing infrastructure. Our MPS contract is fully comprehensive, including services such as print assessment and consulting; device asset management; on-site support; help desk; hardware and software installation; maintenance contracts; and statistical usage reports. 

In addition, a Micro Plus Managed Print Service arrangement can extend right down to individual user level with employee billing and printer usage monitoring, as well as integrating with Card/Pin authentication and other security solutions.

Buyer’s Lab Awards (BLI)

BLI’s awards stand alone in that they are based on a rigorous battery of lab tests that takes approximately two months to complete and includes an extensive durability test, during which each unit is run at half the monthly duty cycle over 15 days, with five days at the maximum daily volume. Samsung Electronics’ mono laser printers, multifunction printer, and solution for corporate customers were chosen as the best products for the first half of 2011. On July 22, Buyers Laboratory Inc. (BLI), a printer quality evaluating organization in the US, announced that four mono laser and multifunction printers and one solution of Samsung Electronics ranked first in their respective categories. "One company winning seven BLI awards in a single season is an extremely impressive accomplishment” said BLI Managing Editor Daria Hoffman. "It's a testament to the commitment to excellence that Samsung clearly brings to its product development."“It gives me great pleasure to see that the products that we released in 2011 for corporate customers have received recognition as outstanding products from a reputable organization. Samsung Electronics will further advance into the B2B market with products that offer speed, economic feasibility, durability, and a solution for corporate customers.” said Kyuho Uhm, Senior Vice President of IT Solutions Business at Samsung Electronics.

Outstanding A4 Print Award

Samsung Electronics’ printers and solution were recognized for their outstanding quality after a test was conducted by BLI on new printer products released in the first half of 2011.Three mono laser printers that were released this year for corporate use (ML-6510ND, ML-5510ND, and ML-3710ND) were chosen, in addition to one multifunction mono laser printer for corporate use (SCX-5737FW).  The four hardware products received a good rating in categories such as reliability, low price, duplex, and eco mode support. The ML-6510ND garnered much attention for offering maximum output speed in its class of 62 pages per minute. It was chosen as an “Outstanding A4 Monochrome Departmental Printer”. The ML-5510ND, which prints 52 pages per minute, was named an “Outstanding A4 Monochrome Printer for Large Workgroups”. Both products offer powerful performance, featuring a 700MHz CPU, 1Gbps network, and 256MB memory. They enable fast printing of large documents. The ML-3710ND and SCX-5737FW both print 35 pages per minute. The ML-3710ND was chosen as an “Outstanding A4 Monochrome Printer for Small Workgroups”, while the SCX-5737FW was named an “Outstanding A4 Monochrome MFP for Small Workgroups”. Both products were the world’s first to adopt the 600MHz dual core CPU, thus offering fast processing speed. All four products have applied the ECO button, allowing the user to choose an environment-friendly mode that saves paper and toner. The user can also check the reduction in energy use on the LCD screen.

In addition, the ML-3712ND and SCX-5637FR received the “Energy Efficiency Award” for low electric power consumption and eco mode support. 

Outstanding Print Management Solution

CounThru 2 Professional is a management solution that was internally developed by Samsung and is being supplied to the corporate printer market. This solution was chosen as an “Outstanding Print Management Solution”. According to BLI’s lab tests, Samsung CounThru 2 Professional proved to be an impressive print management tool ideal for resellers looking to track and report on output device status, usage and costs for devices under an MPS contract at client sites. It can also help reduce hardcopy costs by allowing companies to set usage limits and permissions by user or department. CounThru also tracks consumables levels to calculate yields and estimated life remaining. Dealers can set rules-based notification thresholds for proactive supplies management and quick problem resolution.
