Shock Protection!

Vaio custom builds can be fitted with Hard Disk Drop Protection which can act like an airbag for your hard disc. Should you accidently drop your VAIO, a sensor detects the drop and immediately freezes the hard drive before impact, protecting the disc and preventing a significant loss of data. Even if the laptop is damaged you can be reassured that your hard disc including extensive lesson plans and mark schemes remain safe and secure.

Solid State Drives

Some VAIO models offer Solid State Drive (SSD) technology instead of or in addition to normal hard disc storage. Having no mechanical parts,data retrieval and storage is near-instantaneous making work faster and more efficient which is especially important in the classroom. With no moving parts, SSD devices can withstand day-to-day knocks, making them less prone to failure. SSD devices use memory chips rather than a spinning hard disc to store data. Unlike other memory chips, they retain data when powered down.

Sony Everywair 3G

Some VAIO models are equipped with built-in 3G technology, VAIO "Everywair", a WWAN (Wireless Wide Area Network) card which can bring you uninterrupted mobile broadband at up to speeds of 7.2Mbps.

Fingerprint Recognition

As a security option, your custom built VAIO can have an in-built fingerprint scanner to secure data, launch applications or simply lock/unlock computer access via unique biometric data. Scanners will defeat keystroke loggers, or attempts to capture Windows passwords thus adding extra layers of security to your VAIO. Simply swiping your finger provides authenticity for the VAIO to automatically complete the username/password from your fingerprint database.

Touchpad panel

VAIO's touchpad delivers advanced functionality through innovation. Put your finger on the panel's right edge and you can scroll in any direction through any application. Using the top edge you can flick though your browser as if flipping through a book.

The pad is highly configurable, allowing you to assign functions and controlling many of its actions and behaviours. The simplicity of use allows teachers to navigate much faster than traditional touchpads - keep your lessons running seemlessly with a Sony VAIO.
